The Dating 101

It was first relationship for both of us, Im 20 and shes 19
Basically, we went out for 5 months, and we ended up going to different universities. We started off deciding to go with it and see what happens. Well, 3 weeks into classes, I could barely ever get a hold of her ( she was always like this the whole 5 months, not attached to her phone). Anyways, she sent me an email, saying she wanted to go separate ways, meet new people, and make new friends, and whatnot. I was kinda hurt because she did it through email, and I gave her so many chances the past month to tell me what she really wanted to do. She said that she thought by ignoring me, it would all just disappear.. LIL, no! it doesnt work that way. Anyways, I took a step back, calmed down, and realized, yeah go ahead and meet new people this was never meant to be, at least not right now! So we both said, we wanted to stay friends, and promised to keep in touch…blah blah blah. Its been about a week now, and nothing has been said. Is it wrong for me to contact her so soon, or should I at all? I still care for her as a friend, and, honestly wouldnt mind talking to her, seeing how she is doing…, but in terms of a relationship, i know she isnt ready for one. So, how long to wait before I contact her… I mean there is no guarantee she will answer, or call back, but at least then, I will have done my part to keep in touch, and what should I leave as a voicemail?

Thanks

And I dint see how its possible for anyone to stop someone else from meeting other people, ever, especially when Im in California, and shes on east coast… makes no sense whatsoever, now, if you were to find someone else, who you had interest in, at that point, you would probably tell the bf, you wanna break up, but no way in hell, can I stop you or you stop me from meeting new people and making new friends..
